Scarlett Johansson’s Career Decision May Show a Secret Feud Between Ex-Husband Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively (2025)

So, it seems Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively may be in the middle of yet another feud, this time with his ex-wife Scarlett Johansson.

As many fans know, Johansson is about to make her directorial debut with a movie called Eleanor The Great. Eleanor The Great is going to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, and it follows the story of a 90-year-old Floridian woman becoming pals with a 19-year-old student.

You may be like: What’s the problem here? Let’s take a closer look: the film is backed by five production companies called Maven Screen Media, Dauphin Studio, These Pictures, Pinky Promise, and Wayfarer Studios.

Do any of those look familiar? Well, Wayfarer Studios should because it’s the production company Justin Baldoni co-founded in 2019, and it was the company that backed It Ends With Us. It’s also the company that’s entangled in the legal battle with Lively and Reynolds.

And attorney Lisa Bloom told DailyMail that Johansson’s film could be a part of the upcoming legal battle. “The success or failure of this Baldoni-produced film will be highly relevant in court,” she said. “If it flops, Baldoni will blame the Blake Lively lawsuit and point to the failure as an example of the millions of dollars in damages he is seeking. If it succeeds, his theory that he just can’t make it in Hollywood because of Blake Lively will be obliterated.”

Not only that, but Johansson could even join Taylor Swift in being subpoenaed. “And expect ScarJo and other big names on the film to be subpoenaed to testify at the Lively-Baldoni trial as to the money he makes from the film, and whether the case really cost him as much as he says,” she added.

So before Lively, there was Johansson. Reynolds and Johansson started dating in 2007, very soon after he and his then-fiancée Alanis Morissette called off their engagement. Within a year, they got engaged. Then, in that same year, in Sept 2008, they got married during a wilderness retreat in Vancouver Island, Canada.

They kept their marriage super-private, even when they called it quits in Dec 2010. However, it seemingly took a toll on Reynolds because in 2011, he told Details, “I don’t think I want to get married again,” as reported by Daily Mail.

Now, feud rumors between the two started earlier this week at the Time100 Gala. In a video from the April 24 event, she was seen quickly leaving the carpet after posing for photos, and then Lively and Reynolds arrived literally moments later. This, coupled with the new info about her movie, has everyone thinking there’s a feud behind closed doors.
